Today, I have set out a clear vision for the future of this country as we leave the European Union. Its a plan for a stronger, fairer, Global Britain and a brighter future for generations to come. A stronger Britain means taking back control of our laws – so that we are governed by rules made in this country, and ending the jurisdiction of the European Court. It means working closely with the Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Ireland administrations to deliver a Brexit that works for every part of the UK and thereby strengthens the precious ties between us; and maintaining the important common travel area with the Republic of Ireland. A fairer Britain means getting control of the number of people coming to Britain from the EU. It means guaranteeing the rights of EU citizens living here, as our European partners guarantee the rights of British nationals living there. And – crucially – it means protecting and strengthening the rights people have at work so that workers continue to enjoy the rights and protections that they deserve. A Global Britain means building a new trading relationship with our partners in Europe. But also, being free to do new trade deals with countries from outside the European Union too. And it means continuing to cooperate with our friends and allies in Europe in critical areas such as science and technology, and in the fight against crime and terrorism. We will do all of this while providing as much certainty as we can at every stage of the negotiation, and working towards a smooth, orderly Brexit that allows businesses and others to face the future with confidence. We are leaving the European Union, but we are not leaving Europe, and our plan for Brexit will herald a new partnership between the UK and the EU. Our eyes are fixed firmly on the future, and on the kind of country we will build for generations to come. A stronger, fairer, outward-looking country that is respected around the world and strong, confident and united at home. Thats the Britain we will shape together. Thats my Plan for Britain.201702/490390

And that process continues, and you immediately start to realize how strange this is. I didnt know 25 percent of the more foundational thing, and now Im being pushed to the more advanced thing. And this will continue for months, years, all the way until at some point,这会持续数月或数年,直到某一个时间点,I might be in an algebra class or trigonometry class and I hit a wall. And its not because algebra is fundamentally difficult or because the student isnt bright. Its because Im seeing an equation and theyre dealing with exponents and that 30 percent that I didnt know is showing up. And then I start to disengage. To appreciate how absurd that is, imagine if we did other things in our life that way. Say, home-building. So we bring in the contractor and say, ;We were told we have two weeks to build a foundation. Do what you can.;我们找承包商来,然后和他说:“我们被告知只有两周时间去打地基。所以能建多少就建多少吧。”So they do what they can. Maybe it rains. Maybe some of the supplies dont show up. And two weeks later, the inspector comes, looks around, says,两周之后,房屋检查员来了,看了一下,说:;OK, the concrete is still wet right over there, that parts not quite up to code ... You say, ;Great! Thats a C. Lets build the first floor.;然后你们说:“太好了,至少还是个C。我们开始建第一层吧!”Same thing. We have two weeks, do what you can, inspector shows up, its a 75 percent. Great, thats a D-plus. Second floor, third floor, and all of a sudden,太好了,居然还有D+!继续建二楼,三楼,while youre building the third floor, the whole structure collapses. And if your reaction is the reaction you typically have in education, or that a lot of folks have,如果你的回应与上学时的回应一样,或者是很多人会有的那种反应,you might say, maybe we had a bad contractor, or maybe we needed better inspection or more frequent inspection. 201706/515621

My Fellow Americans, Were only 11 weeks in, but aly my administration has achieved historic progress for the American people – in fact, 93% of our domestic manufacturers have expressed optimism in the future, a record. The confidence we are seeing in our Nation is about jobs and opportunity – but its also about safety and security. Security begins at the border – as a candidate, I pledged to take swift and decisive action to secure the border, and that is exactly what I have done. We inherited a full-fledged border crisis – it was a disaster. Yet, with quick and bold steps, we have so far exceeded even the most bullish predictions for the progress we could make in so short a period of time. Last month, we saw a 64% reduction in illegal immigration on our southern border. At the same time, we are conducting enforcement actions across the country to remove dangerous criminal aliens from our society – and theyll be gone. In just the last few days, our Nations ICE officers have arrested 153 criminal aliens in south Texas, 84 criminal aliens in the Pacific Northwest, and 31 criminal aliens in Long Island, New York – these arrests include aliens convicted of robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, sexual assault against a child, smuggling, drug dealing, and many more. Much work needs to be done to reverse decades of harm caused by open border policies from Washington – but, with time, dedication, and effort, we will get the job done, and save countless lives in the process. Providing security for the American people also means restoring Americas standing in the world. From the very start of my Presidency, I have worked to strengthen our alliances and improve our relationships all around the globe. This week, I was honored to welcome the President of Egypt and the King of Jordan to the White House. Now, I am hosting a summit with President Xi of China at the Southern White House to address the many critical issues affecting our two peoples. In our dealings with other nations, our conversations have been candid, open, and grounded in mutual respect. I have been clear about advocating for the national interests of the ed States, something so important to me, and so important to our people – one of the reasons, certainly, that I got elected. And I want to ensure that the decisions we make truly serve the safety and security of our citizens. In matters both economic and military, we understand that a strong America is in the best interests of the world – that is why it is so important that as we strengthen international partnerships, we ensure these partnerships deliver real results for Americans and the American people. Our decisions will be guided by our values and our goals – and we will reject the path of inflexible ideology that too often leads to unintended consequences. A future of peace, safety, and prosperity – that is our guiding light, and always will be. Together, we will bring about this future for the land we love, and for the people who call it home. We love our country, and we love the American people. Thank you.201704/504718If we see someone in a wheelchair, we assume they cannot walk. It may be that they can walk three, four, five steps. That, to them, means they can walk. In a years time, it could be two extra steps. In another years time, three extra steps. Those are hugely important aspects to think about. So when we do listen to each other, its unbelievably important for us to really test our listening skills,to really use our bodies as a resonating chamber, to stop the judgment. For me, as a musician who deals with 99 percent of new music, its very easy for me to say, ;Oh yes, I like that piece. Oh no, I dont like that piece.; And so on. And you know, I just find that I have to give those pieces of music real time. It may be that the chemistry isnt quite right between myself and that particular piece of music, but that doesnt mean I have the right to say its a bad piece of music. And you know, its just one of the great things about being a musician,is that it is so unbelievably fluid. So there are no rules, no right, no wrong, this way, that way. If I asked you to clap -- maybe I can do this. If I can just say, ;Please clap and create the sound of thunder. Im assuming weve all experienced thunder. Now, I dont mean just the sound;I mean really listen to that thunder within yourselves. (19):How about going to the cinema tonight? David: How about going to the cinema tonight?Lily: That's great. What's on tonight?David: I am not sure about the name of the film, but I know it's a romantic one.Lily: Romantic?
