Neil is rolling around on the studio floor in order to teach an expression connected to wealth. Feifeis there to explain why. Neil: Hello and welcome to The English We Speak with me Neil... Feifei: ...and me, Feifei. In this programme, weve got an expression which means to be very rich. Neil: And, as usual, in order to demonstrate the meaning of something, Im going to make a fool of myself. Now, Feifei, please describe what Im doing. Feifei: OK, so now Neil is rolling around on the floor covered in... money. Neil: So, Feifei, how much money does someone need to roll in it? Feifei: Lots!菲菲:很多!Neil: And so we have an expression in English — to be rolling in it. It means to be extremely rich. Feifei: Thats right. Imagine a person has so much money they can literally roll around in it and you can understand this expression. Now get up Neil. Neil: OK. Lets hear some examples. Carlos is always moaning about lack of money but his parents are rolling in it, so he should just ask them for some. Since tuition fees have been introduced, you need to be rolling in it to afford university. My neighbours must be rolling in it — theyre having a swimming pool and tennis court built in their garden. Neil: So, there we are — we say someone is rolling in it if theyre very rich. Feifei: Id love to be rolling in it. Neil: OK then — come and join me! Feifei: No, I mean that Id like to be rich — but that does look quite fun actually... woah! A:Where can find information on this subject?A:哪里能找到关于这个课题的资料?B:Im not sure. Todd: Anita, I thought we would talk about money and investments. Anita: OK. Todd: So, youre pretty young. Anita: Yes. Todd: And how old are you? Anita: I am 23. Todd: 23, so thats very young. So as a young person, do you think about your future and saving and retirement? Anita: I think about my immediate future. Im not too worried about my retirement just yet, simply because I think you never know : will you retire? will you not retire? I mean, sometimes people get so caught up planning for retirement and saving money for retirement and they dont get to enjoy their life. Todd: Right. But I think, like, Im getting older. Im 37 right, so... Todd: Its still fairly young, but I think everybody thats my age wishes we had started saving when we were your age. Anita: I agree. I agree. Im not thinking about retirement but Im definitely thinking about my immediate future. What will I do after university? Because right now, Im a graduate student. When I was an undergraduate, I never thought about saving. I just was worried about paying monthly bills, paying my rent, things like that, so I was worried about having enough money to pay the current expenses. I wasnt worried about savings, but now that Im a graduate student and Im about to finish my education, I have to think about what will I do after university. Where will I go? If I look for a job, maybe I will have to travel somewhere. Maybe there will be a period of time when I will not have a job, so that, yes, I am worried about, so right now Im thinking about savings for that part of my life. Todd: Now, Anita, youre married, correct? Todd: So is finances something that you normally talk with your husband or is it something that you still are used to doing separately and independently? Anita: No, no, no. We have joint accounts. Any financial things we discuss. Todd: Right, yeah, cause I think especially with marriage, thats probably always one of the main things is money. Anita: You see, for me personally, I dont think how I could... I cannot imagine that I would be married to somebody and have two separate bank accounts: one for him and one for me. I dont think that would work for me personally. Todd: Yeah, it does actually sound strange. Anita: Because then, think about it, if you go for dinner with your husband, who pays? Todd: Right. Anita: And if its him paying all the time, well thats not fair towards him, so I think once youre in the marriage together, once youre doing everything together, you might as well be saving and spending together as well. Todd: Youre right. That makes perfect sense, but I think in the U.S. nowadays its common now for couples to have separate checking accounts. Anita: It is and, even my parents had that for awhile. I personally dont like it because to me it seems like a back door. If somebody had two accounts and theyre married to me its a way of saying, ;I love you and Im married to you, but just in case something happens to us, Ive got my own account to depend on. Todd: Great point. Anita: And to me, personally, I will do my upmost best for my relationship not to get to that point, so because I am not even taking that into consideration, Im not acting that way right now. Todd: Well said. 译文属 /201601/420149本期内容:doubt is the key to knowledge怀疑是知识的钥匙首先我们来学习一个新单词 doubtD-O-U-B-T 怀疑再来学习一个表达sth is the key to sth 什么的钥匙 这里注意介词要用tothe key to the car 车的钥匙the key to my house 我房子的钥匙doubt is the key to knowledge怀疑是知识的钥匙关注微信公众号@ 口语侠(ID: xia2015) 查看更多英语资讯!好玩有趣有料,有外教,有英语大咖 /201701/486024合川永川区不孕不育医院输卵管再通in common 共同的;共有的have something in common with sb和某人有共同点have nothing in common with sb和某人没有共同点例句:Jane has nothing in common with Ben.She hates everything he likes. I found we had a friend in common. I have a lot in common with my sister.we both like sleeping with the light on,and we are crazy about football.
