豆腐为印尼提供清洁能源 --31 :1: 来源:chinadaily people living in some remote villages in Indonesia, heating houses and fuelling stoves can be a real challenge. The resources required, like gas and wood, have to get shipped in and distributed to individual households, and not only does this process take a whole lot of time - some families wait weeks new gas to arrive - it also produces a tonne of emissions that contribute to global warming. The good news is that this antiquated system is now on its way out, thanks to an unlikely source: tofu. You're probably familiar with tofu as a delicious, fluffy treat that's made from bean curd, but in Indonesia, tofu isn't just a snack - it's a livelihood, with hundreds of small, family-run shops producing tofu in massive quantities every day. Now, thanks to a government-run program, the waste water from all that tofu production is getting transmed into biogas that can be pumped directly to houses. But how does it work? First, let's talk about tofu. Tofu has been made the same way generations, and it's a rather simple, yet time-consuming process. Basically, producers start by soaking and grinding soybeans to separate the soy milk from the soy pulp. This step takes the longest because the beans have to soak hours bee they are y separation. After the separated parts go through a filtration system, the protein and oil are separated from the soy milk. A chemical coagulant is added to firm everything up. Once med, you have tofu y cutting. So, in essence, tofu is coagulated soy milk that you can pick up and eat. Though simple in practice, an enormous amount of water is required to make tofu - roughly 33 litres every kilogram of spongy bean curd. Researchers found that this waste water could be turned into biogas if a certain type of bacteria is added to it. Every day, the waste water is collected from various shops and treated with bacteria. Once transmed, the gas is pumped directly to local homes. Besides creating a green energy source locals, using all that waste water has significantly helped the local environment. Thousands of litres of waste water drained from raw tofu was once pumped daily from factories around the village into nearby rivers, befouling waterways and contaminating rice fields downstream. Without all that wastewater lying around, farmers have seen an increased rice yield and the foul smell that comes with tofu production has left the area. The hope Kalisari is to become the first full-blown green village in Indonesia. If they're successful, there's no reason why similar programs couldn’t sweep across the region, dramatically changing the way people get the energy they need to live out their lives.

The Queen owns all the swans in Britain. 更确切的说,Any unclaimed(所有者不明的)mute swan in open waters in England and Wales is hers if she wants it. As early as the twelfth century, the Crown claimed ownership of all mute swans in the country because the birds were highly valued as a delicacy(美味佳肴)at banquets(宴会)and feasts(盛会). Swans are, of course, no longer eaten now, but Swan Upping still takes place once a year on the River Thames(泰晤士河). 但其实,天鹅也是很容易受伤的 “天鹅普查”负责人说:“A lot of the injuries we get these days is through fishing tackle(渔具). At the end of the Swan Upping, the Swan Marker will compile(汇编)an official report regarding the swan population which enables suitable conservation(保护)methods to be implemented(执行). 1981年出台的野生动物和乡村法案规定,故意伤害或者杀死天鹅会被判刑6个月,情节严重者罚款高达5000英镑 现在天鹅蛋和它们的巢也受英国法律保护,所以童鞋们没事也不要捡一个鹅蛋回家啦 最后,愿天鹅和人类能和平相处,互不伤害! Peace!。

I hope you find at least one book here that inspires you to go off the beaten path when you get some time to yourself this summer.,这是个主题很宽泛的书单,其中既有来自西雅图知名作家的800页科幻小说,也有0页的非小说类图书——介绍日本经济如何奇迹般复苏我希望,这个夏天你有时间读书的时候,这里至少有一本书能带给你新的灵感①Seveneves---by Neil Stephenson《七大家族——尼尔·斯蒂芬森著I hadn’t any science fiction a decade when a friend recommended this novel. I’m glad she did. The plot gets going in the first sentence, when the moon blows up. People figure out that in two years a cataclysmic meteor shower will wipe out all life on Earth, so the world es on a plan to keep humanity going by launching as many spacecraft as possible into orbit. You might lose patience with all the inmation you’ll get about space flight—Stephenson, who lives in Seattle, has clearly done his research—but I loved the technical details. Seveneves inspired me to rekindle my sci-fi habit. Ellenberg, a mathematician and writer, explains how math plays into our daily lives without our even knowing it. Each chapter starts with a subject that seems fairly straightward—electoral politics, say, or the Massachusetts lottery—and then uses it as a jumping-off point to talk about the math involved. In some places the math gets quite complicated, but he always wraps things up by making sure you’re still with him. The book’s larger point is that, as Ellenberg writes, “to do mathematics is to be, at once, touched by fire and bound by reason”—and that there are ways in which we’re all doing math, all the time. Nick is one of those original thinkers who makes you say: More people should know about this guy’s work. He is trying to right a scientific wrong by getting people to fully appreciate the role that energy plays in all living things. He argues that we can only understand how life began, and how living things got so complex, by understanding how energy works. It’s not just theoretical; mitochondria (the power plants in our cells) could play a role in fighting cancer and malnutrition. Even if the details of Nick’s work turn out to be wrong, I suspect his focus on energy will be seen as an important contribution to our understanding of where we come from. I have a soft spot Japan that dates back three decades or so, when I first traveled there Microsoft.30年前左右,我由于微软的工作而首次前往日本时,当时的日本令我感触良多Today, of course, Japan is intensely interesting to anyone who follows global economics. Why were its companies—the juggernauts of the 1980s—eclipsed by competitors in South Korea and China? And can they come back? Those questions are at the heart of this series of dialogues between Ryoichi, an economist who died in , and his son Hiroshi, founder of the Internet company Rakuten. Although I don’t agree with everything in Hiroshi’s program, I think he has a number of good ideas. The Power to Compete is a smart look at the future of a fascinating country. Both Melinda and I this one, and it has sparked lots of great conversations at our dinner table. Harari takes on a daunting challenge: to tell the entire history of the human race in just 00 pages. He also writes about our species today and how artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, and other technologies will change us in the future. Although I found things to disagree with—especially Harari’s claim that humans were better off bee we started farming—I would recommend Sapiens to anyone who’s interested in the history and future of our species.

要一直保持镇定从容并不容易”当地时间7月日,近万民众走上伦敦街头,参加反对“脱欧”公投结果的游行同一天,英国女王伊丽莎白二世在苏格兰议会发表演讲,这也是英国公投决定“脱欧”之后,女王首次发表重要讲话 ;We all live and work in an increasingly complex and demanding world...and retaining the ability to stay calm and collected can at times be hard.;Queen Elizabeth II addressed MSPs in Edinburgh on July as she mally opened the fifth session of the Scottish Parliament. She issued a plea calm in the wake of the Brexit vote and the political turmoil that followed. The Queen has also stressed the need political leaders to make ;room quiet thinking and contemplation;. The story in the UK's Sun newspaper claimed that Queen Elizabeth II was in favour of Britain voting to leave EU in the upcoming referendum. Buckingham Palace lodged a mal complaint over that story, insisting the monarch did not take sides in politics, in line with her constitutional duty. Presiding Officer, First Minister, Members of the Scottish Parliament, it is a pleasure to be invited to address you on this special occasion to mark the opening of the fifth session of the Scottish Parliament. I would like to begin by thanking you, Presiding Officer, your kind words of welcome, and extending my good wishes to you in your new role. You carry a heavy responsibility protecting the reputation and good conduct of this Parliament and I have no doubt that you will follow in the steps of your predecessors in demonstrating fairness, good judgment and impartiality, as well as being a strong advocate of the Parliament. Members of the Scottish Parliament, occasions such as today are rightly a time hope and optimism. The beginning of this new session in particular brings with it a real sense of renewal, with your largest intake of new Members since 1999. me, it also brings an echo of the excitement and enthusiasm I encountered that year , when many of the then MSPs- and I am pleased to note quite a number of you are still serving today- set out on a collective journey in Scottish public service. Seventeen years on, the Scottish Parliament has grown in maturity and skill. Of course, we all live and work in an increasingly complex and demanding world, where events and developments can, and do, take place at remarkable speed; and retaining the ability to stay calm and collected can at times be hard. As this Parliament has successfully demonstrated over the years, one hallmark of leadership in such a fast-moving world is allowing sufficient room quiet thinking and contemplation, which can in turn enable deeper, cooler consideration of how challenges and opporties can be best addressed. I am sure, also, you will continue to draw inspiration from the founding principles of the Parliament and the key values of Wisdom, Justice, Compassion and Integrity that are engraved on the mace. These principles and values have aly served the Scottish Parliament well and they will continue to guide new and returning members in the years ahead. During this session, the Parliament will implement significant new tax and welfare powers in addition to other areas of public policy. I wish you every success as you prepare to take on these extra responsibilities, and I remain confident that you will use the powers at your disposal wisely and continue to serve the interests of all the people of Scotland to the best of your ability. As well as mally marking the opening of the fifth session of the Scottish Parliament, today is also a day where people will come together in Edinburgh to celebrate excellence in Scotland. And I can say, without fear of contradiction, that there is certainly a lot to celebrate! Today we are reminded of Edwin Morgan's poem, ;Open The Doors!; and I understand that this afternoon's activities are themed around that poem, which famously has the line, ;We have a building that is more than a building;. What a wonderful way of describing this Parliament! Presiding Officer, First Minister, Members of the Scottish Parliament, The Duke of Edinburgh and I will continue to follow your progress with the closest of interest, and we extend to you all our warmest good wishes as you embark on this fifth session of Parliament.
