Women’s body confidence has become a “critical issue” around the world and pressure from the media is largely to blame for our low self-esteem, a new report warns. The Dove Global Beauty and Confidence Report, given exclusively to The Huffington Post UK, has been created using interviews with 10,500 women and girls across 13 countries and is the largest the brand has ever commissioned. It found that women in the UK have one of the lowest body confidence scores in the world, with only 20% of us saying we like the way that we look. Globally, more than two-thirds of women (69%) and girls (65%) say increasing pressures from advertising and media to reach an unrealistic standard of beauty is the key force in driving their appearance anxiety. Meanwhile, 56% of all women recognise the impact of an “always on” social media culture in driving the pressure for perfection and negative body image. The report reveals that low body-esteem is causing the majority of women (85%) and girls (79%) to opt out of important life activities – such as trying out for a team or club, and engaging with family or loved ones – when they don’t feel good about the way they look. Additionally, seven in 10 girls with low body-esteem say they won’t be assertive in their opinion or stick to their decision if they aren’t happy with the way they look, while nine out of 10 (87%) women will stop themselves from eating or will otherwise put their health at risk. What’s more, nearly eight in 10 (78%) of both women and girls feel some pressure to never make mistakes or show weakness. “This latest research shows that low body confidence is a global issue,” says Dr Nancy Etcoff of Harvard Medical School. “Though troubling, these results are also unsurprising, given the increasing pressures women and girls face today.“考虑到当今妇女和女孩面临的压力持续增长,这些结果虽让人不安,但也不足为奇。”“We need to help empower women and girls in many ways, including increasing body-confidence education, driving meaningful conversations around the pressures women and girls face, and advocating for change in how females and their appearance are talked about and portrayed in the media.”“我们需要以各种方式帮助妇女和女孩获得力量,包括开展增强外形自信的教育,围绕她们面临的压力进行有意义的交流,并且倡导女性及其形象在媒体报道和呈现上的改变。”The report found that beauty and appearance anxiety is a global issue, but one that women are experiencing differently by culture and country. While women in South Africa are the most body confident with 64% saying they have “high body-esteem”, women in the UK come in 12th out of 13 countries, with only 20% of us saying we feel good about the way we look. Percentage Of Women Who Feel Body Confident对外形感到自信的女性比例:1. South Africa: 64%1. Russia: 45%2. Turkey: 42%3. India: 40%4. China: 37%5. Mexico: 36%6. Germany: 34%7. Brazil: 27%8. Japan: 8%13. 日本:8%But it’s not all bad news for women and girls when it comes to body image. The report reveals there is a pro-active desire among females to challenge existing beauty norms. A total of 71% of women and 67% of girls want to call on the media to do a better job portraying women of diverse physical appearance, age, race, shape and size.71%的妇女和67%的女孩希望呼吁媒体做出改善,更好地塑造不同外貌、年龄、种族、身材和体型的女性形象。Additionally, while 60% of women believe they need to meet certain beauty standards, at the same time, 77% agree it is important to be their own person and not copy anyone else. For many women and girls, the key to breaking a cycle of beauty and appearance anxiety seems to be the experience of taking time to care for their minds, body and appearance. In fact, seven in 10 women and eight in 10 girls report feeling more confident or positive when they invest time in caring for themselves. /201606/451954

We all know Queen Elizabeth ii and her royal family are one of the wealthiest royalties the world has ever seen. These men and women of the crown ooze power and smell money. They live in expansive and magnificent palaces that only the genius of architects can conceive. Let#39;s have a look at the golden concrete maze royals call home. 1.Inside the Royal Ballroom, Buckingham Palace1. Have you ever seen the ballroom? Well, unless you strike friendship with the royal household, you will never set foot inside the ballroom. Designed as state of art dining area, the Ballroom has hosted a number of state banquets hosted by the queen herself. During dinners, the room as usual teems with servants and food of your choice, along with some of the most expensive wines and champagne you will ever think about. 2.The Crimson Drawing Room (Windsor Castle)2.深红色的客厅(温莎城堡)On 20 Nov 1992, at around 11 AM, fire ripped through the queen#39;s private chapel in Windsor Castle and sp undetected by the workers until smoke alarm went off. The fire, that rages for several hours destroyed priceless artifacts, paintings and drawings. By the time it was controlled, nine hours later, huge sections of the castle had been destroyed.1992年11月20日上午11点左右,火势包围了温莎城堡内的小教堂,并蔓延到毫无察觉的工人附近,直到火警响起。 Days later, restoration of the landmark began in earnest with the Queen donating two million pounds. After the restoration, the destroyed Crimson room had a new face altogether. A clear memo fire has no authority over the monarchy. 3.The State Dining Room3. The state dining room features expensive and rare gallery. Equipped with the State Of Art furniture, the room is often used as a retreat for dignitaries after banquet from the Ballroom. It has also been used by the queen to record her Christmas messages. Currently, the state room is closed following fears the ceiling would collapse as a result of neglect. 4.The State Couch4. The royal state couch is often used but the royal family member on ceremonial occasions such as coronations or royal weddings. Built in 1762 by Samuel Butler, the carriage has seen less of action and reduced popularity among the royals today. Known for its cumbersome weight of 4 tons, she requires a pair of four horses to pull and it doesn#39;t come cheap. At a price tag of 28M pounds, I bet she is one of themost expensive gold laden horse drawn carriages out there.

German company Kaffeeform combines dried coffee grounds and biopolymer to create stylish-looking coffee cups and saucers that are not only durable and dishwasher-safe, but even smell a bit like coffee. For every cup of coffee you brew, about two tablespoons of grounds wind up in the trash. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but just think about the millions of coffees consumed around the world every single day, and you’ll start to see the problem. Sure, some of those coffee grounds are recycled as fertilizer or beauty products like face masks, but most of it ends up at landfills. It was while contemplating this issue that German product designer Julian Lechner came up with a radical new and sustainable way of recycling coffee grounds – turning them into tableware. Lechner first came up with the idea of using coffee grounds to create eco-friendly crockery while attending university in the Italian city of Bolzano. “We were always drinking coffee at university,” he remembers. “Before classes, after classes, meeting friends, hanging out at espresso bars—all the time. And that’s how I started to wonder, What happens to all that coffee? It was all just getting thrown away.” He began consulting with his professors about ways of using coffee grounds to create a solid material, but it took him years to actually come up with a viable solution. “We tried binding with a lot of different things,” Julian Lechner told VICE Munchies. “We even tried sugar. That was close, but basically it was a candy cup. It just kept dissolving after being used three times.” The whole point was to make the material durable, so it was back to the drawing board for him and his partners at a German research institute. Finally, after many failed experiments, long nights and liters of coffee, they came up with a mix of coffee grounds wood grains and a biopolymer of cellulose, lignin, and natural resins that seemed to behave the way Julian had envisioned it when he first embarked on his quest.“我们试着用不同的粘着剂,甚至尝试过用糖。” “The moment of knowing the cup would actually stand was super-exciting,” he recalls. “After such a long time, you have to really believe in an idea and that it can eventually work. It was overwhelming to drink that first coffee out of the cup. It proved to be totally worth the wait.” And the fact that his creation has proven commercially successful is just the icing on the cake. Kaffeeform coffee cups and saucers are now present in ten shops across Europe, and the company can hardly keep up with demand, regularly selling out of its stock online. And they’ve only been in business for a year. “It basically all happened through word of mouth,” Lechner says about the success of his company. “It’s amazing to think of some of the places where orders have come from. A lot of individuals, but also a café in Saudi Arabia, Ritz Carlton Toronto, and the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo to sell in their museum [gift shop].” Kaffeeform will soon launch a larger line of coffee grounds cups for cappuccino, and is also working on a travel mug. But those are just short-term plans, as Lechner hopes to one day use recycled coffee grounds to create all sort of useful stuff. “What’s next? I’d love to see if we could one day create sheets,” he says. “Perhaps they could later be used for furniture in cafés and restaurants.”Kaffeeform公司很快将大量生产一款专门泡卡布奇诺的咖啡杯,同时它也可以作为旅行杯。 /201607/454299
